Congratulations to the boys hurling team, who all put in excellent performances in the Cumann na mBunscol blitz in Ballinakill last week. They won three matches against Coolfancy, Kilcoole and St. Fergals, with clean sheets in their first two games. Unfortunately, they narrowly lost out to Scoil Chualann who were the eventual winners.
Well done boys and everyone in the school is extremely proud of you!
Massive congratulations to the St. Kevin’s Girls Golf team on their win yesterday in the Delgany Cup! The four members of the golf team were, left to right: Meabh O’Neill, Jessica McDonald, Emma D’Arcy, Caoimhe Ryan. Well done to the girls, a fantastic victory!
On Wednesday 6th April the 5th & 6th class boys went to Bray Emmets to take part in the North Wicklow Schools Division One League. There were six teams pitted against each other in this tough league. The teams were then broken into two groups of three; the winner of each group would then face off against each other in the final.
St Kevin’s were placed in a group with St. Cronan’s & Newtown N.S. The first match was against St. Cronan’s. The boys knew it was going to be a tough match, however, some great scores from Joseph Prendergast, Colm Shortt, Daniel Leahy & Colin O’Shea saw St. Kevin’s winning comfortably by ten points. Victory in our match against Newtown was built around great defending by Charlie Leahy, Danny Molloy, Kevin Booth & Callum O’Connor who kept the opposition scoreless. As the team topped the group there were into the division one league final for the second year in a row. They would face Ashford N.S. in the final.
The final did not start at all well for St. Kevin’s, Ashford scoring early on in the game. It could have been a whole pile worse for St. Kevin’s only for the intervention of Fionn who pulled off two amazing saves two keep us in the game. Luckily we were level at half time. Scores from Joseph Prendergast, Daragh Rushe & a brilliant point from Daniel Leahy ensured both teams were deadlocked at half time. St Kevin’s were playing into the breeze in the second half, but it did not hinder the team at all. St Kevin’s scored a well worked goal through brilliant passing from Dylan Maher & Finn Fogarty led to Darragh Rushe rattling the back of the net. St Kevin’s were three points ahead. Conor McGillicuddy & Rossa McLouglin both entered the fray & added extra impetus to the team. Ashford forced their way back into the match & brought the game to extra time. Both teams were evenly matched during both periods of extra time. Ashford were awarded a very questionable penalty deep into extra time. Ashford scored it & left St. Kevin’s behind by a point. Try as they might, St. Kevin’s just could not break down the Ashford defence & when the final whistle blew, St. Kevin’s had come up agonisingly short.
It has been another fantastic year for the St. Kevin’s Gaelic Football Team. Another Coughlan Cup has been added & a runner up spot in North Wicklow Division One. St. Kevin’s will just have to wait & see if they have done enough to qualify for the Division One All Wicklow Blitz in Ballinakill. Many thanks to Mr McNeice for bringing the team to the blitz & the support of parents on the day!
Panel on the day: Conor McGillicuddy, Danny Molloy, Colm Shortt, Charlie Leahy, Joesph Prendergast, Rossa McLoughlin, Darragh Rushe, Fionn O’Riordan
Finn Fogarty, Kevin Booth, Daniel Leahy, Dylan Maher, Colin O’Shea, Callum O’Connor

On Wednesday April 13th the St Kevin’s girls’ tennis team played against St.
Anne’s from Shankill. As it was our first match we were all a bit nervous,
but were fine once we got playing. Our opponents played well, but we managed
to win two out of the three matches, which meant that St Kevin’s won
overall. Our next match is away against Teresians School in Donnybrook and
we hope that we can play as well as we did in the last match.

Our 1916 Easter Rising Corner has an interesting story about the animals of Dublin Zoo. Recently, in a zoo in the U.S., this walrus received a special fish birthday cake from zookeepers and was absolutely thrilled!

The P.E. hall in St. Kevin’s has been home to many fierce rivalries and competitions. None of these matches, however, have been more competitive than Mr. McNeice versus Mr. O’Neill in table tennis!
This week, we are asking you to watch the video below and guess what the final score of the match was for both Mr. McNeice and Mr. O’Neill!
You have until Friday morning of next week to enter. The student with the closest answer gets a night off written homework! Good luck everyone!
