Well done to everyone in 2nd class who made their First Communion on Saturday the 21st of April. It was a really special day for all the boys and girls who worked so hard to prepare for it. Congratulations boys and girls!
Congratulations to the boys and girls in 2nd Class who made their First Holy Communion on Saturday, 21st April. It was a fantastic day and the children worked incredibly hard to prepare for their special day. Many thanks to Fr. John for all his help all year to get the boys and girls ready for the sacraments of First Communion and Reconciliation. Ms. Begg, Mr. O’Neill and the school choir deserve special thanks for their wonderful singing on the day!
Here are some photographs from the children’s big day!
Here are some of the science experiments we did in room 9. We experimented with sound vibrations. We used elastic bands and put them around containers. when we plucked the elastic bands we could see the sound vibrations!
We also looked at materials and change and what happens when we mix corn flour and water. Finally, one of our favourite experiments was making butter. We shook cream in containers until it turned to butter. We discovered that when we added a marble to the container it made the butter quicker. We even tasted the butter- it was yummy!
The children in St. Kevin’s are learning a dance and rap as part of Healthy Mind Healthy Body Week. Thanks to Belinda for all of her hard work so far! We are going to perform the dance as a whole school on Friday after our sponsored walk. Watch this space!
Here is a video of Junior Infants practising their moves!
As part of our scientific studies, we were given a certain quantity and type of materials and we constructed boats with the aim to make them float. We added items e.g coins to see if the boats could take the weight and stay afloat. We illustrated and wrote up our findings afterwards. We learnt a lot from this Floating and Sinking Experiment.
