Tinsel and Tea-towels

1st Class will be performing a brand new nativity play called ‘Tinsel and Tea-towels’. In this play, children in St. Kevin’s are preparing for the annual Christmas play when some unexpected and unwanted visitors arrive to the school…..School Inspectors!

We can’t wait to perform our play for our families and for some of the other classes in St. Kevin’s.

Children in 1st Class can practise their songs in the Christmas Corner (top left-hand corner of the blog)… but children from other classes will have to wait until the big day to hear our songs!

Carol Service 2014 – Thursday @7.30pm

The Christmas Choir have been practising hard for this year’s Carol Service. We are very proud of their amazing effort and commitment and know that it will be a great night.

We look forward to seeing a packed church once again this year and hope everyone enjoys our carols, readings and Nativity Tableau.

The Christmas Choir will be looking for everyone in the church to join in with our ‘Sing-Along Medley’. Click on the hippo below to get in some sneaky practice before the big performance!

Christmas Carol Singing

On Friday, Mr. Sheekey and the Christmas Choir had a busy day spreading the Christmas cheer around Greystones. They began early with a portion of the singers going to Greystones Nursing Home to sing a few carols, which as always, went down a treat.

Afterwards, they made their way down to the dart station (where the rest of the Christmas Choir joined them) to raise money for Crumlin’s Children Hospital and raised a brilliant €253.19 for the great cause. Thank you to everyone who came down to donate and support the singing (and especially to those who joined in…).

Thanks to Mr. Sheekey for all his hard work organising the events and preparing the choir so brilliantly. We are all looking forward to the Carol Service on Thursday. Most importantly, a massive well done to our wonderful students who shared their songs with us all and for representing their school and behaving so magnificently. They really are a credit to the school.

Santa’s Little Helper – 2nd class

Christmas has truly arrived to Mr. McCarthy’s 2nd class. After creating our own wreaths and colourful snowmen by printing with balloons, Mr. McCarthy sent out an invitation and one of Santa’s Little Helpers left a special stocking outside our door! The elf told Mr. McCarthy that everyone can put in their hopes for Christmas or to send best wishes to others. The elf said that he will take them back to Santa before the holidays (but you still have to write a letter to Santa for presents!) Make sure you write down your Christmas wishes and put it into the stocking outside Room 17!

December Assembly

Children from 1st-6th Classes will gather in the hall on Friday for our next Assembly. This time, the song is ‘I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas’.

Click play below and sing along at home!

“I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas”

I want a hippopotamus for Christmas
Only a hippopotamus will do
Don’t want a doll
No dinky tinker toy
I want a hippopotamus to play with and enjoy

I want a hippopotamus for Christmas
I don’t think Santa Claus will mind do you
He won’t have to use
A dirty chimney flue
Just bring him through the front door
That’s the easy thing to do

I can see me now on Christmas morning
Creeping down the stairs
Oh what joy and what surprise
When I open up my eyes
To see a hippo hero standing there

I want a hippopotamus for Christmas
Only a hippopotamus will do
No crocodiles
No rhinoceroseses
I only like hippopotamuses
And hippopotamuses like me too
