First Holy Communion Room 16

Congratulations to the boys and girls in 2nd Class who made their First Holy Communion on Saturday, 21st April. It was a fantastic day and the children worked incredibly hard to prepare for their special day. Many thanks to Fr. John for all his help all year to get the boys and girls ready for the sacraments of First Communion and Reconciliation. Ms. Begg, Mr. O’Neill and the school choir deserve special thanks for their wonderful singing on the day!

Here are some photographs from the children’s big day!

6th class from St. Kevin’s went on a historical tour to Glasnevin Cemetery recently. It is remarkable how many of the most famous and important figures in our history are buried there and the guides did a great job in telling us interesting facts about these people and how they ended up in Glasnevin. We saw the graves of O’Connell and Parnell right through to de Valera and Collins and also had time to visit the museum where a short movie told of the history of the cemetery itself, mostly centered around the round tower marking the tomb of O’Connell. Over 1.6 million other ordinary Dubliners are buried there too – more people than live in the city itself now.20180410_110237

Up Down Funky Walk!

The children in St. Kevin’s are learning a dance and rap as part of Healthy Mind Healthy Body Week. Thanks to Belinda for all of her hard work so far! We are going to perform the dance as a whole school on Friday after our sponsored walk. Watch this space!

Question of the Week – ‘How many?’

May is a special month as all 2nd classes will have their First Holy Communion ceremonies. All 3 classes have been working very hard! Ms Harmon and Ms O’Hara’s 2nd classes will be celebrating their First Holy Communion this week in the Holy Rosary Church in Greystones. We wish them the very best of luck for it and hope they have a fantastic day!

For this week’s ‘Question of the Week’, we are asking you to guess how many pieces of artwork will be on display in the Holy Rosary Church in Greystones on Saturday?

The student with the closest guess will earn themselves a written homework pass. Think carefully about your answer. Best of luck everyone!
