Middle Assembly (1st-3rd): ‘Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah’

Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah

Zip-A-Dee-Ay

My oh my, what a wonderful day

Plenty of sunshine heading my way

Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah

Zip-A-Dee-Ay

Mister bluebird on my shoulder

It’s the truth

It’s actual

Everything is satisfactual

Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah

Zip-A-Dee-Ay

Wonderful feeling

Wonderful day

Senior Assembly (4th-6th): ‘School’s Out’

Well we got no choice

All the girls and boys

Makin all that noise

‘Cause they found new toys

Well we can’t salute ya

Can’t find a flag

If that don’t suit ya

That’s a drag

School’s out for summer

School’s out forever

School’s been blown to pieces

No more pencils

No more books

No more teacher’s dirty looks

Well we got no class

And we got no principles

And we got no innocence

We can’t even think of a word that rhymes

School’s out for summer

School’s out forever

School’s been blown to pieces

No more pencils

No more books

No more teacher’s dirty looks

Out for summer

Out till fall

We might not go back at all

School’s out forever

School’s out for summer

School’s out with fever

School’s out completely

May Assembly

Children from 1st-6th Classes will gather for our next Assembly on Thursday. Prizes will be given to the winners of our Attendance awards as well as our recent ‘Green Schools’ poetry competition.

As May is the Month of Mary, we will  sing the song ‘As I Kneel Before You / Ave Maria’ during our Assembly.

AS I KNEEL BEFORE YOU

As I kneel before you,

As I bow my head in prayer,

Take this day, make it yours

and fill me with your love.

 —

Ave Maria,

Gratia plena,

Dominus tecum,

Benedicta tu.

All I have I give you,

Every dream and wish are yours,

Mother of Christ,

Mother of mine, present them to my Lord.

Ave Maria,

Gratia plena,

Dominus tecum,

Benedicta tu.

Amhráin le cleachtadh:

‘Peigín Leitir Móir’

Curfá:
O gairim gairim í,
Agus gairim í, mo stór;
Míle grá le m’anam í
‘Sí Peigín Leitir Móir!

Éirigh suas, a Pheigín
Agus seas ar bharr an aird
Comhar do chuid bullán
Agus féach an bhfuil siad ann.

Curfá

Tá Bríd agam ‘s tá Cáit agam
‘Sí Peig an bhean is fearr;
Pé’r bith fear a gheobhas í,
Nach air a bhéas an t-ádh.

Curfá

Chuir mé scéala siar chuici
Go gceannóin di bád mór;
‘Sé’n scéala ‘chuir sí aniar chugam
go ndéanfadh leathbhád seoil.

Curfá

Tá iascairí na Gaillimhe
Ag teacht anior le cóir
Le solas gealaí gile
Nó go bhfeicidís an tseoid.

Curfá deiridh
‘S ó, gairim, gairim í
‘Gus gairim í mo stór
Míle grá le m’anam í
Is gearr go mbeidh sí mór!

 Amhrán na bhFiann

ireland-flag-645x250Sinne Fianna Fáil,
atá faoi gheall ag Éirinn,
Buíon dár slua
thar toinn do ráinig chugainn,
Faoi mhóid bheith saor
Seantír ár sinsear feasta,
Ní fhágfar faoin tíorán ná faoin tráill.
Anocht a théam sa bhearna baoil,
Le gean ar Ghaeil, chun báis nó saoil,
Le gunna scréach faoi lámhach na bpiléar,
Seo libh canaidh amhrán na bhFiann

Song for Senior Assembly (4th – 6th): ‘This Little Light of Mine’

Chorus: This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine.
This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine.
This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine.
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine

Light that shines is the light of love,
Hides the darkness from above,
Shines on me and it shines on you,
Shows you what the power of love can do.
Shine my light both bright and clear,
Shine my light both far and near,
In every dark corner that I find,
Let my little light shine.

(Chorus)

Monday gave me the gift of love,
Tuesday peace came from above,
Wednesday told me to have more faith,
Thursday gave me a little more grace,
Friday told me to watch and pray,
Saturday told me just what to say,
Sunday gave me the power divine
To let my little light shine.

(Chorus )

Let it shine, Let it shine, Let it shine!

December Assembly

Children from 1st-6th Classes will gather in the hall on Friday for our next Assembly. This time, the song is ‘I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas’.

Click play below and sing along at home!

“I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas”

I want a hippopotamus for Christmas
Only a hippopotamus will do
Don’t want a doll
No dinky tinker toy
I want a hippopotamus to play with and enjoy

I want a hippopotamus for Christmas
I don’t think Santa Claus will mind do you
He won’t have to use
A dirty chimney flue
Just bring him through the front door
That’s the easy thing to do

I can see me now on Christmas morning
Creeping down the stairs
Oh what joy and what surprise
When I open up my eyes
To see a hippo hero standing there

I want a hippopotamus for Christmas
Only a hippopotamus will do
No crocodiles
No rhinoceroseses
I only like hippopotamuses
And hippopotamuses like me too

Anti-Bullying Month Begins

anti-bullying

Our anti-bullying month started in the school today. Assemblies were held for all classes to inform the children of the purpose of the month. Each child was given an anti-bullying code badge (ABC)  and are asked to wear it for the month of November. Throughout the month, teachers will be doing lessons on physical, verbal, social and cyber bullying.

Our anti-bullying code is:

  1. Stay calm & look confident
  2. Speak loudly and firmly
  3. Don’t be mean back
  4. Get away
  5. Tell an adult

Keep an eye on the school blog for more anti-bullying posts.

Song for Senior Assembly (4th – 6th)

Senior Assembly – ‘Ghostbusters’

Ghostbusters!
If there’s somethin’ strange in your neighborhood
Who ya gonna call?
Ghostbusters!

If it’s somethin’ weird an’ it don’t look good
Who ya gonna call?
Ghostbusters!

I ain’t afraid o’ no ghost
I ain’t afraid o’ no ghost

If you’re seein’ things runnin’ through your head
Who can you call?
Ghostbusters!

An invisible man sleepin’ in your bed
Oh who ya gonna call?
Ghostbusters!

I ain’t afraid o’ no ghost
I ain’t afraid o’ no ghost

Who ya gonna call?
Ghostbusters!

Ah, think you better call
Ghostbusters!

Who you gonna call?
Ghostbusters!

(I can’t hear you)

Who you gonna call?
Ghostbusters!
Louder
Ghostbusters!

Who you gonna call?
Ghostbusters!
Who can you call?
Ghostbusters!

September Assembly – ‘You’ve Got A Friend In Me’

We will be having our first Assembly of the year on Friday. Children from 1st – 6th Class will gather in the hall to share news from each class and celebrate some of our school’s achievements.

We will also be singing ‘You’ve Got A Friend In Me’ from ‘Toy Story’. Click on the play button below to practise at home!

Backing Track:

Here are the lyrics :-)

You’ve got a friend in me
You’ve got a friend in me
When the road looks rough ahead
And you’re miles and miles
From your nice warm bed
Just remember what your old pal said
Boy, you’ve got a friend in me

You’ve got a friend in me

You’ve got a friend in me

You’ve got a friend in me

You’ve got troubles, well I’ve got ’em too
There isn’t anything I wouldn’t do for you
We stick together and we see it through
You’ve got a friend in me
You’ve got a friend in me

Some other folks might be
A little bit smarter than I am
Bigger and stronger too
Maybe
But none of them will ever love you the way I do
It’s me and you

And as the years go by
Our friendship will never die
You’re gonna see
It’s our destiny
You’ve got a friend in me
You’ve got a friend in me
You’ve got a friend in me
