6th Class History Trail

Greystones Trail Photos

For the past few weeks 6th class have been learning about the history of Greystones.

Firstly, we conducted interviews with people in our families who have been living in Greystones for a long time. The following day in class we did KWL charts and saw lots of interesting pictures on

On Thursday, we all went on a walk to St. Crispin’s Cell. We started at our school then walked down by the marina. We continued along the cliff walk towards Bray and then arrived at St. Crispin’s Cell. There, we learned that St. Crispin was the patron saint of shoemakers and the cell that is there now was once a small medieval church. On our way back to school we walked through Redford estate.

When we got back to school, teacher gave us a questionnaire to see how well we knew the history of Greystones. I’m glad to say I answered quite a lot of them!

Overall, we had a fun and interesting time learning about the history of Greystones. Thank you to Ms. Brennan and Mr. O’Neill for bringing us on such a lovely and fun walk.

Cumann na mBunscol Boys Blitz

Congratulations to the boys hurling team, who all put in excellent performances in the Cumann na mBunscol blitz in Ballinakill last week. They won three matches against Coolfancy, Kilcoole and St. Fergals, with clean sheets in their first two games. Unfortunately, they narrowly lost out to Scoil Chualann who were the eventual winners.

Well done boys and everyone in the school is extremely proud of you!

Engineers’ Week Quiz

Collage 2

As Engineers’ week conflicted with Seachtain na Gaeilge and our 1916 celebrations this year, Mr. O’Neill and Mr. McNeice’s classes took part in activities to celebrate it along with Science week. Take a look at the pictures of the classes taking part in an engineering quiz!

6th class and 5th class also built rockets, cup telephones, circuits and coded data for our school science fair! Check out the Science Fair Video on the blog!

3km Trail Run

On Tuesday, forty eight of our 5th and 6th class students took part in a 3 kilometre trail run around Avondale House. It was a very successful day with all students completing the difficult course. Well done to all the participants for representing the school so well.

A big thank you to Mr. O’Neill and Ms. Lambkin for organising the St. Kevin’s team and to Mr. McNeice and the two parents who came along to help. A great day was had by all!

(Ms. Lambkin ran the course twice with all the students to make sure everything was going smoothly… next year she should definitely get a medal…)
