Congratulations to Molly Lamson, Lucy Willoughby, Chloe Hughes and Ellie O’Malley who were all winners of the recent Write a Book competition. The girls were presented with medals by Mary Mitchell-O’Connor T.D. at Killiney Castle last Monday. We are very proud of you, girls, on this wonderful achievement.
Mr. Sheekey’s 1st Class have been learning about how to take care of our environment. We learned about how to ‘Reduce, Reuse, Recycle’. We used construction toys and then recycled materials to create pieces of Art. Some of us recreated famous constructions like the Taj Mahal, the Statue of Liberty and the Leaning Tower of Pisa. We also created robots, monsters and many other unusual objects! We used lots of different 3d shapes like cylinders, cubes, cuboids and spheres to make our creations look interesting and to help them to balance.
We also worked together to make posters reminding people in St. Kevin’s to take care of our environment.
Many thanks to our fantastic school choir (under the leadership of Mr. O’Neill and Ms. Begg) who sang so beautifully at the TWO communions. Fingers crossed they haven’t lost their voices for the confirmation.
As this week is Healthy Body, Healthy Mind Week in the school, we have decided that when students hear music being played over the intercom they have to get out of the seat and dance. Hopefully everyone won’t be too tired by Friday!
Children from 1st-3rd Class will gather for our next Assembly on Friday. Prizes will be given to the winners of our Attendance awards and we will hear news from each class.
As May is the Month of Mary, we will sing the song ‘As I Kneel Before You / Ave Maria’ during our Assembly.
AS I KNEEL BEFORE YOU
As I kneel before you,
As I bow my head in prayer,
Take this day, make it yours
and fill me with your love.
All I have I give you,
Every dream and wish are yours,
Mother of Christ,
Mother of mine, present them to my Lord.
Ms. Kinnane’s senior infants have been very excited this week, growing their own mustard seeds. Have a look at the progress they saw each day and the delicious sandwiches they got to eat after all their patience.
