Luca Ascoli of Ms Dolan’s first class has grown a beautiful chestnut tree from a conker he brought in to show his class. Last year they learned about growing trees and his teacher Ms. Kinnane told him to soak the conker in water for two weeks and then plant it.
The conker came from a chestnut tree in his Grandparent’s garden that is 130 years old.
Congratulations to last week’s ‘Question of the Week’ winner. Well done to Matt from Ms. Dolan’s 1st class who was the first to find all 6 hidden words in the picture. He has earned himself a homework pass! Well done! A photo will follow.

Assembly for 1st-3rd Class takes place next Friday. We will be celebrating the arrival of summer by singing Let’s Go Fly A Kite from Mary Poppins!
LET’S GO FLY A KITE
With tuppence for paper and strings
You can have your own set of wings
With your feet on the ground
You’re a bird in flight
With your fist holding tight
To the string of your kite
Oh, oh, oh!
Let’s go fly a kite
Up to the highest height!
Let’s go fly a kite and send it soaring
Up through the atmosphere
Up where the air is clear
Oh, let’s go fly a kite!
Ireland has had some great weather over the past few weeks.
This week, we are asking you to describe the weather in a sentence with only 5 words.
You are only allowed to use 5 words, no more no less! For example, if it was very cold, your answer could be “Even Frosty would be frozen!” The funnier and wittier it is, the better!
Take your time and write a short and funny weather forecast. Choose weather from last week or on the day you are posting your comment. Remember, the winner gets a night off written homework. Good luck everyone!
Congratulations to the boys hurling team, who all put in excellent performances in the Cumann na mBunscol blitz in Ballinakill last week. They won three matches against Coolfancy, Kilcoole and St. Fergals, with clean sheets in their first two games. Unfortunately, they narrowly lost out to Scoil Chualann who were the eventual winners.
Well done boys and everyone in the school is extremely proud of you!
